Avec Ces Feres | Art Comes First

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of being in the presence of Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh of "Art Comes First" as they brought their tailored wears and sound aesthetic to Liberty Fairs. Watching Sam as he gave creative direction to the subjects posing in front of the camera. Styling subjects in their wears and suggesting poses; great energy to be around.

Hello New York!

After years of contemplation, and anticipation; it is safe to say that I will be spreading my wings and moving to none other than the Big Apple. Moving to New York has been a long term goal for me for some time now, and I am finally ready to make the city that never sleeps my new home. It's amazing what can happen when you let go of fear and put your trust in Jehovah God.

No more than just three and a half weeks ago I made a day trip to drop my résumé at various retailers and ended up leaving with a job offer from BCBG. You better believe I took that offer with no hesitation at all lol. Now in just one weeks time, I will be transitioning from DC to NY, and I am looking forward to the many opportunities that may be tossed my way. From styling, to design, I can't wait to continue to expand my knowledge and develop my skills.

With all of this being said, I encourage you all to follow your passions and do things when you are READY, not when others think you should. "Everyone evolves at his/her own rate. It aint a race. Stay in your lane" ~ E. Badu

"Charlie" Behind The Scenes

Monday I got back in the "studio" aka T-Square Loft and shot an amazing editorial with my dream team. Karmin our model, and one of my favorite faces of the moment, MUA Anthony, and my amazing photographer Lee. I can't recall exactly how this concept came about, but I knew I wanted to play on masculine and feminine, with the makeup channeling Charlie Chaplin amped up a notch. For wardrobe, I stayed true to my aesthetic; versatile and simplistic. I can't wait to share the actual photos with you all!

In the mean time.. take a peek behind the scenes.

BIG NEWS!! POSTPONED

Update: Sadly, the members of the fashion panel were just informed that the Fashion and Blogging Conference has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. I'll be back with another update as I get more information from the organizer. If you have purchased tickets, no need to worry, you will be refunded in full.

Yet another "who, me?!' moment lol. This month I will be speaking on my very first fashion panel alongside some great men and women in fashion in DC. I am beyond excited about this opportunity. You never know what doors may be opened due to blogging, but I am humbled, and thankful never the less.

Come join myself, Kimee Brown of neonV magazine, Britt Nelson of Brightest Young Things, fashion stylist Chester Algernal, and photographer Drew Xeron Saturday September 21st at The Ellington (1301 U St NW  Washington, DC 20009), as we discuss the current state of the fashion industry in DC, and how it is changing.

Visit the event page HERE for more info. I hope to see you there!!

Everybody Loves A Crop Top

Last Wednesday before the ANTHOM Live event in Georgetown. Sahra and I decided to enjoy the weather and take a few photos by the Washington Harbor. Keeping it versatile and simplistic, ( my style motto) I paired my vintage DIY reconstructed shorts with an AA crop top and Silence & Noise chiffon vest number. Keep it chic yall.

Recap: 2RichGirls SOON Spring Presentation in NY

This post is so tardy for the party lol. It's okay though because it's never too late for a good event recap. A month ago I made my way to NY for a little get away, not expecting much, but we all know that's when the most fun happens.

This night was just that; fun, friends, music, and laughter. All the while enjoying a great fashion presentation at a downtown Brooklyn loft with a great view.

Recap: Juxtapose @ The Ulysses Room

Juxtapose: "An undertaking by artists of two different genres showcasing their interpretation of the marriage between fashion and art"

Upon receiving an invite from my girl and fellow blogger Monica, I was very excited when reading about "Juxtapose" and what it entailed. The marriage between fashion and art?! I was determined to be there, even if it was the evening before my flight to Orlando for my cruise LOL. The Ulysses room was filled with beautiful fashionable people, and I couldn't wait to capture the moment. Bianca (wardrobe stylist) and Jamon (Photographer) created a great body of work with this exhibition.

"To Live a Creative Life"

Lately I've been finding a lot of inspiration via instagram. Quotes that help keep me going, and photos from established designers and stylists living it all out. I've also found myself struggling with the thought of starting vs. not starting due to "fear" of the unknown or what others may think.

I started this blog to document my journey within the industry of Fashion, but I've fallen a little short of that mission. While I feel that I've been putting up some pretty great interesting posts; I haven't styled a photo shoot in months, nor have I been sketching and attempting to construct my own garments.. a shame really lol. I know what I want to do, and how I want to do it, but the hardest part is STARTING. These photos via instagram really made me think.. I need to kick myself in the butt, get going, and never stop. Happy Monday!

Recap: Danielle Nicole at Macy's

Last Monday I, along with a number of other amazing DC Bloggers had the opportunity to sit in with Danelle Nicole at the executive offices of Macy's in Wheaton as she displayed her new Spring/Summer Line. Danielle (a Maryland native by the way) has a truly amazing and inspiring story, which was very motivating to hear being that I am one day hoping to have a line of my own. I'll just keep reading the "about Danielle" section of her press kit for continued inspiration lol. If you are unfamilliar with Danielle, she makes beautiful, fashionable handbags for the "Bargainista." Great quality and at an amazing price point?! I couldn't NOT purchase one. Many thanks to Rose for getting these great shots, I hope you guys enjoy.

But are we being bloggers or what? LOL

Talking to Danielle about her story, and telling her about mine.

Recap: The Launch of Neon V Magazine

First, let me just say how tremendously proud I am of these beautiful women. With a vision, hard work, and dedication you can accomplish anything. This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of attended the Launch for Neon V Magazine.

If you are not familiar, "neonV is a biannual magazine for the contemporary peculiar woman. assuming an uncanny perspective, the magazine offers women a compelling storyline of traditional and innovative content by exposing the cultural and subcultural continuums in fashion, art, beauty and travel." You can visit their website HERE.  The room was filled with nothing but love and beautiful, well dressed men and women. I'm a sucker for great style and beautiful faces lol.
