It's Rumba Time

Everyone needs a stylish watch, and these are just perfect. I was first introduced to these men's and women's timepieces by my friend Katherine who happens to do  PR work for the company. What I love most about Rumba Time watches is how easily they can be layered with other jewelry, and aren't bulky and overstated. It's the subtly that draws me in.

One of the major benefits of working at a High-End consignment boutique is coming across designers that you didn't even know existed. Last month at work I was taking a consignor appointment when I layed eyes on the most beautiful sheer wool maxi cardigan; but what really caught my attention was the pleated shawl-esq collar and the asymmetrical hem.

Without a second thought, I immediately googled Marie Saint Pierre and fell IN LOVE. This luxury designer brand encompasses everything  that I live for when it comes to design. Quality materials, attention to detail, and an aesthetic that is all her own. She's been in the fashion industry longer than I've been born, and is now one of my design inspirations. Inspired by Cuba, Rozae Nichols presented an amazing bright and vibrant resort collection perfect for summer. I'm still loving the digital print craze over here, not to mention this model! Beautiful

I Spy Around the Web: Andrea Iyamah Swimwear

Summer is vastly approaching, and aside from having a great summer body, we want to have great swimwear to show it off right? Right. Browsing tumblr led me to this amazing swimwear designer; Dumebi Oghor Andrea Iyamah from Nigeria, and I must say I am in love with her pieces. They aren't overly sexy, actually compared to a lot of what's out there, they are quite modest in my opinon. Take a look.

 

Adventures in Menswear: Ninh Collection

It seems that my slight infatuation with menswear is constatnly growing, and I have no problem with that lol. I love a stylish man, and I love menswear that is a little outside the box. While casually browsing through Instagram a while ago, I stumbled accross Ninh Collection, an amazing Menswear brand based out of New York. I love the attention to detail, the tailored fit, and the fact that these pieces aren't your typical boring cuts. Take a look, what do you think?

I'm sure you guys have seen the ads for the Prabal Gurung collab with Target. (Which is only 4 days away now!) Are you excited?? I am, I love the designers use of color and digital prints. I get feminine with edge from all of his collections, and now his pieces are finally affordable enough for me cop a piece or two. Ranging from $14.99-$199.99, these are my favorite looks from the collection.

 Of course I'm sitting here bored at work, browsing the web when I stumble upon this jewel of a find! Introducing Shourouk from Parisian designer Shourouk Rhaiem.I am in complete LOVE with this designers statement necklaces, earrings and bags. She certainly knows whats "on trend." Made with sworovski elements, enameled stones and crystals, these pieces will add an element of luxe to any outfit. Wish I could afford a piece or two! Check out her website HERE

Tell me about you: where are you from, how old are you?

Hi, my name is Mera Anwar 27, I am the designer behind the label MIRI. I graduated from Parsons New School of Design with a degree in Fashion Design. I’ve had the pleasure of working for amazing designers before I ventured off on my own with the label MIRI.

What do you do?

I design RTW contemporary women's clothing. The ideal MIRI woman is one who likes to reinvent the classics, whether it be an embellished collar or an asymmetrical hem. Most of my clients are all about appreciating the little details,from hand dyed ombre silks to sheer embroidered lace.

When did you know that Fashion was something you were passionate about?

Fashion design and the creative field in general has always been a huge part of my life. My late teenage years were when I really started to build my portfolio with hand sewn pieces, tapestries and some modern paintings.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
 

I find myself making new accomplishments everyday, but if I were to pick something in particular... It would be when I moved to Paris to work for couture designer Jasmin Santanen. Aside from starting my own line, I'd say my time in Paris what truly inspired me to make my dream a reality.

What advice do you have for others aspiring to do what you do?

 

I would encourage all aspiring artists to be diligent, determined, and always curious. The world of fashion can appear cyclical to some but designers are in a constant state of change and improvement.

Hayden Williams for Sketch Street

Now if you follow me on instagram or twitter, you may come to know that I am obsessed with this young illustrator and designer Hayden Williams. I first learned of him through twitter, which then lead to him becoming my very FIRST Stylized Feature ( Here). Since then, it's been a rap and I have been following his progress ever since.

His most recent accomplishment has been his collaboration with Sketch Street. Where we, the consumer have a say in what pieces will make it into production by pre-ordering from the site. Check out my favorite pieces from his collection, I know you all are going to LOVE it!
