@GOKATESHOOT Shot Me

A moment of vanity? Sporting untamed eyebrows and and a red lip with my hair twisted and pinned up in my favorite silk scarf lol.

This photo was taken sometime earlier this month after leaving a party on Ust by the wonderful Katie of Go Kate Shoot. It's always a pleasure running into her.

Margiela for H&M: My Top Picks

Of course everyone has heard that Margiela will be hitting H&M come November 15th, so I decided to do a little post on my favorite looks from the womens line. To me, a lot of these pieces have that "Versitile Simplicity" that I always speak of, but with a great deal of detail. I am especially fond of the cream sweater, black dress, navy pullover, and red asymetrical dress, which reminds me of something I've worn before.. well a similar idea lol.

Now; the big question is, are you bold enough to step out the box and elevate your wordrobe, and will you be camped out waiting for the doors to open to get your hands on a piece? I haven't decided yet haha.

Now I don't know what truly inspired this outfit, but I love it (I was serious about the black and white thing lol). Thursday Rachid, owner of Puro Cafe right next door to my boutique said that I looked very Parisian with this outfit, and I agree lol.

Stylist Chronicles: BTS @ David Rios Salon and Spa

What a LONG weekend. Work, work, on top of more work lol. My regular job and my side hustles are intersecting, but I can handle it, I was buitl for this life.

This past Sunday I worked on a shoot, as wardrobe stylist for Kalyzia who works at David Rios Salon and Spa. With a little less than a months notice, I found myself adding yet another shoot to my Styling Portfolio which is a GREAT thing. I was able to pull from Charm Georgetown for jewelry, Tari Boutique, and of course... My own closet to make wardrobe happen. Everything came together beautifully (model, hair, makeup photography)... But let me tell you guys about the unprofessionalism from these two no show models on the day of the shoot! Kalysia had been calling these girls since 10am, texting and leaving messages, and not a word back was received (THIS IS ONE OF MY MAJOR PET PEEVES) How dare you book yourself for a shoot and not show up? Not even give so much as a call or email the day/night before. Then have the nerve to say "I'm sorry, who is this?" once you finally do answer the phone. SMH I was too through yall..
Anywho.. Take a gander at a few BTS shots. Actual photos coming soon, I'm excited!

THIS... Is a Big Deal

...At least for me anyway. Two weeks ago, while in NY for Fashion Week, myself and friends were shot by the legendary Bill Cunningham. The creator of Street Style Photography (Please watch his documetary if you havent, titled "Bill Cunninghm's New York". Here is an old post leading up to the DC Screening Here).

This is how it went; Dana, Amber and I are sitting outside of the Lincoln Center resting our tired feet, and here comes Bill... camera in tow. He's checking people out as I suspect he normally does, walks by us, stops, looks at me...raises his camera and snaps. I'm smiling for the camera, and looking into the lens; but he doesn't want that. Instead he directs me to look away, as if to catch us candidly. Now let me tell you how elated Dana and I were after I told them Bill had just taken our picture! I'm all like OMG,OMG and Dana's like WHAT?! Meanwhile Amber was just like"Um, okay." Dana and I looked at her like O_O and had to let her know who Bill was (funniest moment of the day I tell you.) Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked about this. Check it out HERE, and peep the video slide show!

Stylized: Aaron Ramey of Babylon Cartel

Tell me about you: where are you from, how old are you?

24 from a little place called West Philadelphia, PA.

What do you do?

I am wardrobe stylist and co-owner/CMO of national brand Babylon Cartel & Co. I have most recently been steering towards creative consultant for artist and other brands.

When did you know that Fashion was something you were passionate about?

I think my introduction into fashion is little different than others. I first realized that I wanted to work in fashion was when I first watched the movie Casino. The swag, confidence, class gangsta mental and color blocking of Robert Deniro's character, Sam Rothstein gave me my first taste of wardrobe styling. Once I discovered that it was someone's job/responsibility to construct a wardrobe around a character or personality, I wanted that job.

(This by far is one of my favorite looks)

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?

That's a tough one. There has been a few. One of biggest accomplishments YTD is styling and dressing models for NYFW in 2 runway shows. Owning a brand responsible for curating concert events in the city of Philadelphia with up and coming acts such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q (twice), A$AP, Lil B, Gilbere Forte, among others.

What advice do you have for others aspiring to do what you do?

My advice to anyone who has dreams or aspirations of engaging in any creative industry is to sharpen your craft before you allow anyone to judge it. Practice as much as possible in order for you to create great work.

Life quote: If there was one quote that summed up your view on life what would it be

"It prepares your spirit and your will, because there is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth" - The Alchemist

How can we stay connected with you?

Stylist Chronicles: "Playlist"

Ever since styling the "Tari Late Summer Lookbook" opportunites to style have been landing in my lap, and I never really considered myself a stylist, but look at me now lol. Of course there is still much I need to learn, and I am certainly willing to do so.

Last month I had the opportunity to style a Wedding Band that goes by "Playlist" for their promotional video's, all thanks to my best friend and one of the lead female vocalists Kristian. This was the very first music video I've styled; pulling pieces from Tari Boutique in Georgtown, House of Kas, as well as a piece or two from my own closet (Not to mention styling the outfits from the clothes each band member brought with them.) I must admit, I was a bit nervous taking on such an ambitous task styling all band members, but thank goodness it all came together in the end. Take a look at some behind the scenes shots AND view the videos on the Site

Featuring Vintage Ungaro, a Vintage fringe number, 3.1 Phillip Lim, House of Kas Ties on the men, and Dolce  & Gabbana
